4 steps to the perfect kick

1.

Body alignment

Make sure your hips and shoulders are in line with the target when connecting and after with your momentum. The body posture should be upright, but slightly over the ball.

2.

Ball drop

Simplify the action as much as possible. The ball should be in an upright position (not tilted flat) and the action should be bringing the ball OUT and then back IN to the foot.

3.

Connection

We ideally want to hit higher up on the shoe laces, towards where they are tied. It is a thicker part of the footy creating better connection and more power. On the football, imagine the ball as a clock and we want to hit 7 o’clock.

4.

Follow through & momentum

Players should be kicking through the ball and following through to waist height (even with a low and direct kick - to get the different heights is all about timing). Make sure the momentum is moving through the ball towards the target.
